The Dúo Juum, integrated by Gabriela Villa (viola) and Hugo Solís (electronics), is an experimental electro-acoustic ensemble. The duet was born with the goal of having a space for the exploration of new sonorities and new methods of interaction between the two performers and the digital media. Juum (the Mayan word for noise) gives the aesthetic direction for the duet that has played in Italy, México, United Kingdom and the United States since its foundation in Barcelona, Spain, at the beginning of 2006. There, the duet produced the CD La nave de los locos (The ship of the insane people). This work is a sonic journey through the subjective roads of traveling dreams. The listener who seeks a safe handle in music will be confronted throughout the sonorous experience of free improvisation, a construction that will invite and place the listener to the action of active listening. “Music may have died” but only to liberate sonorous energies, radical sensory experiences that do not abate before that which is decorative nor hedonic. The improvisatory act is a material intending to surprise the following instant.
